Rogers & Cowan artists, two-time GRAMMY Nominee Alex Cuba and critically-acclaimed Cuban songstress Diana Fuentes were centerpieces of  SXSW’s second “Sounds from Cuba” showcase this year.

Alex Cuba is a Cuban born and Northern Canada residing multiple Juno and Latin Grammy winner, including Best New Artist. Hailed as “one of North America’s premier Latin pop-rock songwriters” (NY Daily News), Alex gave one of his three SXSW performances offering a first taste of songs from at his upcoming new album “Lo Unico Constante” (The One Constant)-inspired by Cuba’s mid-century lounge style known as filin.

Following four years singing in the band of nueva trova pioneer Carlos Varela, and two widely-respected independent solo albums, Diana Fuentes’ upcoming major-label debut for Sony-Latin is already being predicted to be “a big release’ for Latin music this year according to Billboard.  Diana’s Sounds From Cuba showcase  was quickly praised by NPR’s “All Songs Considered” as one of their most loved Friday SXSW performances, boasting “a muscular sound, performed by a band that veered from Cuban-inspired pop to jazz to a blistering tribute to the Afro-Cuban deity Obatala.”
